Elegant Seafood Casserole

1 lb. Shrimp
1 lb. Crab or Lobster
6 Tbsp. butter or margarine
1/4 cup flour
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. paprika
1 tsp. salt (optional)
2 cups light cream or half & half
3 or 4 Tbsp. sherry


Topping:
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1/2 cup grated Cheddar cheese


Briefly cook, drain, clean and chill seafood. Combine all the ingredients except seafood and sherry to make a sauce. Cook until thickened, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and add sherry. Arrange seafood in buttered casserole and pour sauce over it. Top with 1/2 cup of grated Cheddar cheese and then cover with 1/2 cup of bread crumbs. Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 to 35 minutes until hot and bubbly. Serve hot over (or with) rice.
