Scallop Casserole

1 lb. Scallops
1/2 red pepper, minced
6 slices American cheese
1/2 stick butter (or margarine)
Dill weed, salt & pepper (a little of each)
3/4 cup fresh bread crumbs
1 small onion, minced
1/4 cup half 'n half or lt. cream
1/4 cup sherry (or white wine)

Put Scallops in baking dish. Saute pepper and onion until tender. Add cheese and half 'n half and bring to bubble. Pour over Scallops. Melt butter in pan, add sherry. Cook 1 minute and add bread crumbs. Cover Scallops with crumbs. Sprinkle with salt, pepper and dill weed. Bake at 350 to 400 F for 15 to 20 minutes.
