Chop Suey Casserole

1 lb Ground beef
3/4 c Chopped celery
3 tb Instant minced onion
1 1/4 c Water
1/2 c Uncooked converted rice
1/2 ts Salt
1 cn Condensed chicken with rice soup
1 cn (4 oz) slice mushrooms; drained
1 tb Packed brown sugar
2 tb Soy sauce
1 ts Butter or margerine


Cook and stir ground beef, celery and onion in skillet until beef is brown; drain. Stir in remaining ingredients.

OVEN METHOD: Pour into greased 2 qt. casserole dish. Cook uncovered in 350 degree oven 30 minutes; stir. Cook until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed, about 30 minutes longer.

RANGE TOP METHOD: Heat to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed, about 30 minutes.
